How to find out my gear ratio.
forgive me for being an idiot. but how exactly can i found out my gear ratio? i keep reading other forums and people always say "look at your window sticker" and well, i've scanned over this thing countless times. its not on there anywhere. and others say, "if your going such and such speed at such and such RPMs than you have such and such gears". come on there has to be an easier way to tell what i have, i have the brembo break package, and i HOPE i have 3.73 gears. but i see people with the BBP and some have 3.55 and others have 3.73. so basically is there any TRUE way to tell what i have?

It would be in your option list on your window sticker. If nothing is listed, you have the stock 3.31's.
Also, just a pet peeve of mine, but it's spelled BRAKE not break.

There is a tag on the axle housing that has the ratio on it.
If there is no optional gear ratio listed on your GT's window sticker then you have 3.31 rear gears if you have a manual transmission.
All automatic GT's have 3.15 gears as there are no optional ratios available for them.

if there is any more confusion after the previous correct info is still not enough:
1. if you have a manual transmission the optional ring gears of 3.55 or 3.73 would show as a $395 option on your window sticker
2. if you have an automatic transmission the ring gear is 3.15 and no optional ratio was offered for that transmission

yeah i have the 6 speed manual. so if i have the 3.31 gear ratio, would it be wise to upgrade that if i make other mods to my car? the mods i plan on making are BOSS Intake Manifold, CAI (possibly Airaid or JLT), Tune, and Borla ATAK Exhaust. would a 4.10 ratio be a good investment?

4.10 is a lot for a street car, would be good for the dragstrip.

Like I posted, depends on what you are wanting out of the car.
3.73 is a OEM optional ratio so if you wanted, the dealer can flash your PCM for the new gear and you wouldn't need a tune.
4.10's and some sticky drag radials and a tune and it would be super fast at the strip.

Yeah I need to do my research on the differences between the gear ratios. I'm thinking 3.73 would be good but since I want to get the boss manifold maybe moving up to 3.90 wouldn't be a bad idea.

wow this website really simplified things for me. if anyone else needs more info on gear ratios (probably not since everyone answered a simple question of mine :P) and how they work, feel free to check this out. Thanks for all the help guys. i think i'll go with a 3.73 in the end.

You don't have to climb under or locate your window stick to determine your rear ratio. Open the drivers door and look at the door jamb sticker under axle and the code will tell you what your car has from the factory
BB - 3.73 ratio
CC - 2.73 ratio
DD - 3.55 ratio
GG - 3.31 ratio
YY - 3.15 ratio
BB - 3.73 ratio

GG - 3.31 ratio
YY - 3.15 ratio
