Fuel cutoff switch
#5
On my 1991 Explorer I cut the wire and found the engine wouldn't start. So, I ran a wire up to the center console and put a small black switch in and had a home-made anti-theft device. Don't know if it will work with the 2006 Mustang

FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF SWITCH FUEL
RESET
This device stops the electric fuel pump from sending fuel to the engine
when your vehicle has had a substantial jolt.
After an accident, if the engine cranks but does not start, this switch
may have been activated.
The fuel pump shut-off switch is
located in the driver’s footwell, by
the hood release
To reset the switch:
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no leaks are apparent, reset the
switch by pushing in on the reset
button.
4. Turn the ignition ON.
5. Wait a few seconds and return the key to OFF.
6. Make another check for leak

Mine has tripped several times without reason that I can think of. Once while driving on interstae, as I cam off onto a side road, I suddenly lost power and coasted into a parking lot. The first time I pulled up to a pump, filled up the car and it would not start. I ended up playing with it for two hours trying o figure out why I had no fuel, ended with a tow to the dealer. they replaced the switch, but since then it has happened three more times.

when i was towed recently to the dealer when my car just shut off while drving that was the first thing i checked...i was told by the service mechanic that sometimes when power shifting or sport shifting ..sometimes it can be setoff.....by hitting it with your foot...
